Bus Code of Conduct

A significant number of school students in Queensland travel on buses to attend school. All students have the right to a safe and enjoyable journey between home and school. In the morning, a pleasant trip to school can set the tone for a day of productive learning.

The purpose of the Code of Conduct for School Students Travelling on Buses is to provide guidelines for those involved in the safe travel of school students on buses.

Bus Travel Assistance Information for Students

The scheme has been running for a few years now we believe there are many families at our school that may not be aware of the scheme and could be eligible for assistance.

The State Government has developed a Bus Safety Net Scheme for some students who do not receive other forms of School Transport Assistance and are members of lower income families.

Who May be eligible?

To be eligible for assistance under the Safety Net Scheme, students must be in one of the following categories:

  • Students of families eligible for a health Care Card.
  • Students eligible for a Health Care Card.
  • Students of families eligible for a Pension Concession Card.
  • Students of families receiving Veterans Affairs Pension.
  • Students placed under a Care Protection Order.

The School Transport Assistance Scheme: April 2017 (PDF, 3.3MB) is still current and can be downloaded and submitted to the Queensland Transport Department for review.

Application forms with further details are available by calling in the TransLink Division of the Department of Transport and Main roads at Level 3, 44 Nelson Street, Mackay or by telephoning (07) 4951 8673.
